Screenwriting Updated: New and conventional ways of writing for the Screen

Commissioned by the Australian National Film and TV school, AFTRS, Screenwriting Updated (Australia edition entitled Scriptwriting Updated) was Linda Aronson's Award-winning, groundbreaking first book on screenwriting,   It quickly became an internationally-recognized desktop reference guide and do-it-yourself script doctor to help writers consolidate their skills in traditional narrative and grasp the mechanics of the new.

Screenwriting Updated was the first book to provide practical guidelines not only for conventional narrative, for non-linear forms like flashback, multiple protagonist and multiple time frames and became a set text at leading film schools around the world, including NYU, Goldsmiths, and Berkeley

Recently superseded by Linda's latest much bigger and more detailed book The 21st Century Screenplay: a comprehensive guide to writing tomorrow's films, Screenwriting Updated is still in use around the world .

Screenwriting Updated contains a number of analyses of films and several charts depicting the flashback mechanisms of various well known films like The Usual Suspects, Citizen Kane, The Remains of the Day and Shine.
