Linda’s new ‘no-rehearsals’ comedy-whodunnit! Linda Aronson’s work, Miss Bilby and the Moss Covered Cleric, is a favourite with amateur dramatic societies. Your group can perform Linda’s new, unpublished ‘no-rehearsals’ comedy-whodunnit
Miss Bilbey and the Moss Covered Cleric (for a large mixed sex cast,
written to be read from scripts to a live audience). Miss Bilbey and the Moss Covered Cleric When the vicar of the quaint English village of Little-Willingale-on-the-Glebe dies suddenly, Inspector Gammage takes it for a heart attack. But the Inspector’s cook, Ms Clementine Bilby, retired Australian Opera Diva and amateur detective, realises instantly it is murder. Why is the dead rat in the organ pipe a sign that the vicar had a dark secret? Will War hero Superintendent Gerald ‘Binkie’ Hyde-Worthington believe Miss Bilby? And does the fact that the Inspector is the head of the local witches’ coven have a bearing on the matter? Miss Bilby and the Moss-Covered Cleric is a comedy thriller spoofing Agatha Christie and every bad radio play you ever heard. Written to be read from scripts before a live audience, Miss Bilby and the Case of the Moss-Covered Cleric is a spoof radio play that sends up both the Agatha Christie style of whodunnit and the ‘tinkling tea-cups’ style of old-fashioned radio drama. The sound effects crew appear on stage alongside the actors. Performed in 2002 as a charity show starring
a range of writers and publishers the play is an ideal fund-raiser
since no lines have to be learnt and it requires only a couple of read-throughs
and sound effects . Read a brief extract from Miss Bilby and the Moss Covered Cleric For performance rights and fees, contact 61 2 9360 3833.
