New Books and Articles
Ian Rude goes to a Halloween-slumber party in Federation Square! Ian Rude, Linda’s accident-prone comic teenage hero, appears with his mates Bogle and Pricey in a brand new short story out soon in Kids’ Night In 2. Kids Night In 2 is a collection of stories contributed by leading Australian kids’ writers, with proceeds going to the charity War Child. War Child is a network of independent organisations working across the world to help children affected by war. Today, War Child International is reaching 20,000 children on a weekly basis. Penguin Books arranged a massive launch of KNI 2 by Nick Earls in the Atrium, Federation Square in Melbourne on Monday 31 October. Kids – and authors – were encouraged to go along in Halloween gear – topped by dressing gowns. It was a wild day. Linda’s story is called ‘About Last Night…’, and in it, Ian explains why you shouldn’t mix hair dye, vaccuum cleaners, Bogle’s sister and cockroaches. If you’re looking for a great birthday or Christmas gift – particularly for that kid who’s read everything - Kids Night In 2 is money going to a very good cause.
